Agent Authority (generic)

An insurance producer is an agent for the insurance company. That means the producer (agent) represents the insurer (principal)—not the customer. Any knowledge the producer has is presumed to be knowledge of the insurer. Furthermore, any act the producer does is presumed to be done by the insurer.
