Eligibility for Marketplace Health Insurance Copy

As mentioned in previous lessons, the health insurance Marketplace or Exchange was created as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Marketplace is meant to be a place where individuals can see information about a variety of health insurance plans that are available in their area, and then purchase a plan through the site. In order to be eligible to purchase a plan through the Marketplace, the individual must:

  • Live in the United States,
  • Be a United States citizen or national,
  • No be incarcerated, and
  • Not be eligible for Medicare
